Tips for Improving Balance

Here at On the Ball Fitness in Fair Haven, we provide the utmost personal fitness to our customers. Not only do we engage in personalized exercise routines, we can also help you achieve balance. Could you use a little more balance in your life? We thought so! In our efforts to be social, we are using Facebook and Twitter to give our fans some fitness tips and insight into to what we do best at On the Ball Fitness.

Improving your balance takes time and practice. While we can help you achieve your goals, here are some tips to get you started:
  • Keep moving. If your joints don’t get a regular workout, they get weaker over time, putting your at risk for balance problems.
  • Proper posture. Aging often affects how you stand and sit, getting worse over time.
  • Muscle strength. Strong muscles are necessary to help you regain your footing quickly if you start to lose balance.
  • Check your medication; some drugs can affect your balance.
  • Get up slowly when you have been sitting or lying down to help prevent drops in blood pressure that can make you lose your balance.
  • Slight changes in hearing can affect your balance, be sure to get your hearing checked out.
  • Not being able to see clearly can also make you lose your footing.
